I am pleased to announce we’ve started the process of declaring the mintage figures for numismatic coins issued since 1986.
As of today, production is officially closed-off for all 1986 to 2002-dated numismatic coins that have not sold their maximum mintage.
The declared mintage information will shortly be confirmed in the relevant tables of numismatic mintages on our collectables website.
This action provides 100% certainty that no more of these coins will be released by the Mint, thereby preserving their current rarity forever.
Designed for collectors, Perth Mint numismatic coins feature proof and specimen quality finishes (see Mintage Policy – Glossary of Terms for more information).
They come in presentation packaging accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity, unlike our bullion quality coins which are mass produced for investors seeking exposure to the price of gold and silver.
Looking ahead, we will declare mintages for 2003 to 2011-dated numismatic coins that are not sold out following our annual review of year-dates in early 2013.
Shortly thereafter, these mintage declarations will be formally announced and confirmed in the relevant tables of numismatic mintages.

Where can I find mint age info on your great warrior series? Thanks.
Hi Bob
The Great Warriors Series was a commissioned product struck on behalf of Gainsville Coins.
Link here for the 2010 Viking coin on their website – as you can see no more than 5,000 were struck.

Thanks so much for the update. I had no idea this was a special release for them only. Interesting. Seems like the ‘steal of a life-time’ with these coins going for $43.00…time will tell I guess. I bought a few from them.
Always happy to be of assistance and glad you found the coins you were looking for.

Hey,
does the mintage of the 1993 Kooka 1oz proof include the Opera Privy Kookas? If not, where can I find the correct numbers?
Thanks
Leon
Hi Leon
The 1993 1oz Kookaburra featuring a Sydney Opera House privy mark is a separate coin to the 1oz proof issue. The mintage figure you are looking for will be posted on our page of sales and mintage tables in the future.

Dear Perth Mint,
Would you please tell us the maximum allowable mintage for the 2oz Lunar silver proof? So far we have about 1000 each in the 3coin set and the newly announced 1000 each in the 12 coin set.
Is 2000 coins the total maximum you are allowed to mint or are you going to mint more in various packaging down the road?
Thank you for the clarification.
Hi Goblue
This coin was originally issued prior to the new Mintage Policy which calls for the maximum mintage to be stated upfront. Having said that, I do not foresee this coin being included in any packaging variation other than the existing Three-Coin Set (1,000) and 12-Coin Collection (1,000).
Kind regards

My suggestion: 1 OZ high relief is too small, hopefully Perth Mint produce some 2 OZ high relief coins, but please do not release the same thing every year, uniqueness is very important.
Hi Jessica
Thanks for adding your call for a 2oz high relief. Seems its becoming a popular idea!

Totally agree!
A 2oz HR, sized as 1oz but then twice the thickness…perhaps gilded as well…
Talking about an innovative coin…

Earlier, it’s said that only 100 set sold in your web and the other 900 go to silber. First day, there’re some set available in your web and then go to unavailable. About 10 days ago, you add about 6 set available and now 100 set more.
Is there any change to silber’s allocation? Or, there”s additional set from 1000 earlier?
Hi ito
The additional Australian Lunar Series II 2oz Silver Proof Coin Collections available on our website came from Silber Corner’s original allocation. The mintage has definitely not increased.

Just received mine today.. really superb collection at reasonable price (just 2x spot price, compare to other perth’s proof coins). Nice presentation case too!
Hi, are the Perth Mint re-minting coloured gold lunar coins? Or are the current numismatic mintages on your website still up to date?
e.g. 1oz gold coloured Ox, Mintage 6000, Sales 342. Are there any plans for the Perth Mint to mint more than 342?
Thanks.
Hi Ryan
We have committed to reviewing our back catalogue early in the New Year and declaring mintages for many collector releases. In the meantime, we’ve been advised that it’s extremely unlikley that any more of the Lunar coloured gold coins will be offered before this review takes place.

Hello again,
I just read that there are only 6673 – 1oz Proof Kookaburra 1991 sold.
My certificate got the number 7084. How is this possible?
Thanks
Leon
Hi Leon
This happens because products are picked at random for dispatch and therefore we could have numbers throughout the entire range that are left unsold.
Kind regards
