  1. Hi Blog team

thanks for providing us with these informations. 🙂
Is it now foreseeable when PM will publish the other Numismatic mintage figures (of Koala coins).
Last time you did indicate it will be a few weeks later than the figures for the Bullion mintages.

    Regards,
    Norbert

    • Hi Norbert

Apologies for the delay. We are waiting for senior staff to return and sign-off this information.

      Kind regards

      Blog Team

      • I am hoping that his return doesn´t take to much time. 😉

Please allow me a question about the ANA Show Special Koala 1oz Silver Bullion Coloured Coin.
In your 2012 report on page 5 you have declared the mintage with with only 1,678 pcs.:http://www.perthmint.com.au//documents/2012_Perth_Mint_Numismatic_Coins_2012_040213.pdf
But I know that a few thousend of these coins have been sold without box ond COA through serious dealers here in Germany.
I myself have bought one capsuled coin and it is exacly the same as the one from ANA issue. The dealer confirmed that these are genuine PM coins.
Can you confirm this and tell us coin collectors the exact mintage figures for these only capsuled coloured Koalas?

  2. I assume that you produced all 5,000 coins. And after you have sold only 1,678 as comlepte ANA sets you decided to sell the remaining 3,322 coins as capsuled only. Am I right?

  3. Hi Blog Team,

In your numismatic mintage filing of 2011 is one special issue missing:
It is the 2011 WMF edition of 1 oz Koala and Kookaburra in presentation card which you mention on your shop with max. a mintage of 2,000 cards: http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalogue/berlin-world-money-fair-show-special-2011-koala-and-kookaburra-1oz-silver-two-coin-set.aspx
I have heard that it has been sold out but did not find any official confirmation here of page 5 under International coin show special:
    http://www.perthmint.com.au//documents/2011_Perth_Mint_Numismatic_Coins_2012_sales_31-12-2012.pdf
If so can you please amend the filing soonest and let me know the declared mintage/sale of this presentation card.

    Thanks and best regards,
    Norbert

  4. Another deficiency in your 2012 filings are:

    1) The International Coin Show Special filing is missing Beijing International Coin Exposition – Australian Outback Kookaburra 2012 1oz Silver Coloured Coin:
    http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalogue/beijing-international-coin-exposition-australian-outback-kookaburra-2012-1oz-silver-coloured-coin.aspx
You have mentioned there a max. release of 5,000.
But in your filing of 2012 I cannot find it (please see page 5):
    http://www.perthmint.com.au//documents/2012_Perth_Mint_Numismatic_Coins_2012_040213.pdf

    2) The same is applicable for the Half Ounce Australian Outback 2012 Coloured Silver Coin Collection:
    http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalogue/australian-outback-2012-coloured-silver-coin-collection.aspx
Here you mentioned a max. release of 5,000 sets.
    What is/was the declared release?

    Your answer is appreciated again.

    Best regards,
    Norbert

    • Hi Norbert

You are correct that a few product details are missing. We are waiting for our product admin dept to compile the data which will be included with the next upload after Easter.

      Kind regards

      Blog Team

      • Hi Blog Team,

        Thank yor for the feedback!
Does it mean we have to wait for the numismatic mintage figures 2013 after easter as well?

        Regards,
        Norbert

        • Correct Norbert. Unfortunately there’s a slight delay as we’re awaiting the return of a senior executive from an overseas business trip to sign-off on the work.

          Thanks for your patience,

          Regards

          Blog Team

          • Slight delay is delaying to a longer period?
I am sorry but isn´t it only a formal signature missing – am I right?
I hope that the senior executive is not in retirement already. 😉
Hopefully we are getting the 2013 numismatic figurs at next week already. 🙂 PLEASE!

            Best regards,
            Norbert

          • Sorry to be so frustrating Norbert but we’re told they’ll be published late this week!

            Regards

            Blog Team

  5. Hi Team,

Thanks for the final 2013 Numismatik figures, the update of 2012 and the amendment of the 2012 Outback set!
But I realized a little sensation in your filing with the Privys.
I deed you haven´t only announced in Comlaw.gov.au the issue of a Silver Koala with Chines Privy 2013 but you did issue one!!!!
Are they only for Chinese market or did you sellanywhere else.
Please provide a pictuere of it here or send me by Email!!
    Thanks for the stunning news

    Regards,
    Norbert

    • Hi Norbert

It is always a pleasure to hear from you. This coin was sold in China through China Gold Coin. We are likely to offer remaining stock in Australia shortly – please stay tuned for further information and pictures.

      Kind regards

      Blog Team

      • Hi Norbert

Please note that 2013 Australian Koala with Chinese privy mark is being offered by Perth Bullion Co.

        Regards

        Blog Team

        • Hi,

the remaining stock of these Koalas with Cinese Privy Mark had a remarkable fast sold out.
Can you provide me wíth the exact quantity which was available for the free market and are they included in your figures of 2013?

          Kind regards,
          Norbert

          • Hi Norbert

The ‘on hand’ quantity we sold to Perth Bullion Co are definitely included within the 10,392 Declared Mintage.

            Kind regards

            Blog Team

          • Hi Blog Team,

            and how may is“on hand`quantity?
If you don´t want or are not allowed to specify please give a hint how big your hands are:
            a) less than 100
            b) less than 500
            c) less than 1,000

            Many thanks for the statistic.

            Kind regards,
            Norbert

          • Less than 500.

            Regards

            Blog Team

    • Hi Blog Team,

And you are allowed to do it again 😉

I just read in ComLaw Files under: Currency (Perth Mint) Determination 2014 (No. 1) – Explanatory Statement that you are enabled for minting 2014 Australian Koala – Chinese Characters – Silver Bullion Coin as well as the 1/10 Gold Kangaroo. It seems that your former customer China Gold Coin is issuing his 2013 set in 2014 again.

Will there be a sell out of the remainig coins as previously and will it be handled by Perth Bullion again?

      Kind regards,
      Norbert

  6. Hi again,

After reading your Sales to date of the 2013 Australian Koala, Kookaburra & Kangaroo Sets I and the amendment of 2012 have got three more questions:

    1) At 24. of March 2014 you mentioned here in the Blog that the 3 Coin 1 OZ Silver HR Set have been sold out with 1.000 sets.
But in your report you mention only 698 sets as sold by date 31 of December 2013. Which of these statements is correct. Or will the issue figures amended once again with sales figures dated 24 March 2014?

    2) 2.105 1 Oz Silver HR Koalas have been sold in 2013
are the 3 Coin set figures already included?
It is not cleary stated anywhere this times.

    3) The 1 Oz colored Silver Koala of 2012 contained in the Philadelphia ANA Coin Show packaging has been sold out with 5.000 sets.
But I know from a serious German coin dealer the a few thousand (maybe about 1.000-3.000) capsuled coins have been sold without case, COA and box. These are no copies or fakes. If had several ones of it and the ANA Show Coin too. And I cannot imagine that anybody took out and sold the coins only for les than the Set which they did.
Did you issued single colored 2012 Koala Coins coins??

    Thank you and best regards,
    Norbert

    • Hi Norbert

1/ The 2012 High Relief Silver Proof Four-Coin Collection* is sold out. At the time we defined 1,000 as the ‘full mintage’, but under the revised Mintage Policy, introduced shortly afterwards, this figure subsequently became the ‘Issue Limit’ – see for example 2013 Australian High Relief Silver Proof Three-Coin Collection

Sorry if this has caused confusion. The figures will be formally updated on 31 December.

(*This is the very product that caused us to revise the Mintage Policy in 2012).

2/ Again, this relates to the introduction of our new Mintage Policy. The Maximum Mintage of the 2013 1oz High Relief Koala is 10,000. 1,000 of these were allocated to the Three-Coin Set (Issue Limit 1,000) while the remaining 9,000 were made available in different packaging.

3/ Regarding the 2012 1oz Koala in ANA Coin Show Packaging, please note the footnote on the pdf which states that some of these coins were sold in capsule with COA and that they are included in the total sales.

      Hope this is useful,

      Kind regards

      Blog Team

      • Hi Blog Team,

Let me habve a question about the 2012 1oz Koala in ANA Coin Show Packaging again.
In your reply dated 6 May 2014 you confirmed sales of the coin without case CoA and slipper. Does PM know the exact or aproximatey quantity of these sales?

        Kind regards
        Norbert

        • Hi Norbert

For your information, the 2012 1oz Koala has a declared mintage of 5,000, of which 1,720 were in ANA Show Special packaging and 3,280 were sold as coin & cert to a US distributor.

          Kind regards

          Blog Team

  7. Blog Team,

Please forgive me for fireing so many questions to you 😉

I am a member of German coin forum. In the Koala thread a member raised an interesting question about the amended 2012 mintage figures which I want to forward herewith: He mentionded that the mintage figure of ANA Coin Show Special 2012 (BU) coloured Koala coin has been raised from former 1,678 pcs(sets) in 2013 to 5,000 in 2014 (as sold out). Also some other coins mintage figures have been increased by your recent numismatic mintage figures publishing.
We thought that re-mintage after the yearly closing won´t be done any more (see Kookaburras).
Or are there other reasons for this?

I am keen in hearing your explanation!

    Kind regards,
    Norbert

    • Hi Norbert

The figure of 1,678 represented ‘sales-to-date’ up to 30 December 2012. We continued to sell stock-on-hand and are now pleased to announce the sell out of the Maximum Mintage (5,000).

So there has been no ‘re-minting’ of this or any other coins.

      Kind regards

      Blog Team

  8. Good Mornig Blog Team,

I don´t dare to ask you another question before you have processed my former questions….
But another member in German coin forum noticed that you have exceeded the maximum mintage of 2011 Silber Koala with Berlin Privy by 940 coins (50.940 /max mint. was 50,000)
    How can that be?

    Thanks and best regards,
    Norbert

    • Hello Norbert

It’s always great to hear from you and we are delighted that you have such a high level of interest in our business. Sorry if we are ever late in responding, but it sometimes takes a while to get representatives from the Blog, Sales, Product Admin teams etc together to consider you detailed inquiries.

In this instance you have helped us identify a mystery ‘typo’. We previously declared the 2011 Berlin Bear Privy at 48,922 and this is the quantity it should be now. Apologies about this and we will correct this particular figure today.

      Kind regards

      Blog Team

  9. Hi,

after revising your answers it seems that I am up your line now. 🙂
If there will be any further questions I ´ll let you know.

Maybe some hints or suggestions for an improvement for the future:
The fotenote (for the 2012 colored Koala is not marked anywhere) So it becomes hard to get the reference to the corresponding coin.

Sometimes the description of the coins is not exact or the motive is missing: You have to guess which one it could be.

If you are amending the issue figueres it would be better to mark is as an amendment until following year for better tracing the change. Otherwise you have to look up all filing from 2012 on (awful).

The only crossover with your new mintage policy seems to be the 1/10 Oz 2011 Silver Koala where you have amended also the 2011 figures this year.
By the way I am also missing in you 2011 filing of the first issue of this coin in presentation package which has been given to attending guests of PM on WMF in Berlin in 2011. I am told that max. issue was 250 pcs. Luckywise I am owning one of these scares.

Best regards to the team and also to Andrew Crellin 😉
    Norbert

  10. Sorry but I missed one point.
The mintage figures of 26,509 pcs. of the 2011 1/10 Silver Koala are for the version in presentation card and the capsule only version.
But how many have been sold/issued in presentation card and how many in capsule only?
As far as I know the later dated coins have been issued only in presentation card.

    Best regards,
    Norbert

    • Hi Norbert

Here is a breakdown of the mintage for the 2011 Australian Koala 1/10oz Silver Coin:

      • In card = 20,499, including 2,000 as part of the 2011 ANA Coin Show Special Two-Coin Set.
      • Coin in capsule only = 6,010

      Hope this helps

      Kind regards,

      Blog Team

  11. Hi

Many thanks to the whole Blog team for the excellent cooperation during the last month!!
You have changed your policy in communication as well I appreciate it!
Another feedback for your work is the result which lead to an excellent overview of all Koala Silver issues listed here and in following pages (click on `weiter` =continue to see following three pages):

    Best Regards,
    Norbert

  12. Hi,

Unfortunatelly you missed to answer one question from topic 9 dated 7th May:

By the way I am also missing in your 2011 filing of the first issue of this coin in presentation package which has been given to attending guests of PM on WorldMoneyFair in Berlin in 2011. I am told that max. issue was 250 pcs. Can you confirm? Luckywise I am owning one of these scarces.

    Best regards,
    Norbert

  13. Hi,

Hopefully my last question about your amendments for 2011 sales (mintages).
The 1 Oz Silver Koala gilded has been amended too. The previous figure was 4,071 now is 4.818 coins. Is that correct or a typo again? 😉

    Best regards,
    Norbert

    • Hi Norbert

The figures are correct. The 4071 figure represented sales to date at the end of 2012. The 4818 figure is the Declared Mintage at the end of 2013. We will never sell more than this number.

      Kind regards

      Blog Team

  14. Hi,

Maybe you can help me in a special matter. I need the outer diameter of an 10Oz Koala/Kooka capsule for adopting a case inlet for it. Dimension should be acurracte for about one thenth of a millimeter. Thank you.

          • Hi Blog Team,

I will be a pleasure to provide you with more informations. What kind ofinformationas are youinteresten in? I am in close contact with the owners of this company and I am looking forward to get that wooden collection box for the 10oz Koalas at first. I am owning already the wooden box for the one and half ounce Kolas as well as for the 1oz Lunar2 coins and some others. These boxes are looking excellent and are of good quality.
If you like to get in direct contact with them just let me know. It would be a great pleasure to assit you.

            Kind regards,

          • Hi Norbert

We would love to see a picture of these boxes with the 1oz Lunar coins to date. Does MeineMunzen manufacture them?

            Thanks

            Blog Team

        • They do them. I will send more details by email because spam filter is preventing me doing it here.

          Norbert

      • Hi Blog Team,

concerning the wooden storage box for the 10oz Koalas and Kookas there is a result available now.
I can present you know the wooden coin collector box. It took a “bit” longer than expected but finally ended up much better.
It has two different insert to be combined in any way. One insert takes upt to six of the 10oz coins including capsule, the other one three of the the 1 kilo coins.
One box takes two inserts of any coin size (10oz or 1 kilo).
The manufacturer is the same as for the Lunar II 1oz box I have presented you earlier: muenzbox.de.
Here is a link to their webpage with that specific box. Just select Englisch as your prefered language in upper right corner if it is not already done:
        http://www.meinemuenzbox.de/startseite/m%C3%BCnzboxen/koala-box-10-oz-1-kilo-silber-1/#cc-m-product-12105399227

        Hope you like it.

        Kind regards
        Norbert

  15. Hi Blog Team,

don´t worry be happy. All Koala figures have be checked and no more questions !See you next year.
Unfortunately on your Kookaburra Silver Bullion Privy Coin filings of year 2013 is a little lack:

The 1 oz Kookaburra with Privy Mark `Sanke`is completly missing: Max Mintage should be 80,000 and declared minage or sales to date? is unknown therefore.

    Please have an immediate amendment.

Thank you and a great week for the whole team!

    Best regards,
    Norbert

    • Sorry a typo of myself: I meant `1 oz Kookaburra 2013 with Privy mark `Snake is completly missing`

    • Hi Norbert

Details of the the 1oz Kookaburra with `Snake’ Privy Mark will be uploaded in the future. However, for your information, we can say that 50,000 Mintage is Sold Out at the Mint.

      Kind regards

      Blog Team

  16. Hello and good morning Blog Team,

unfortunately there is ar mistake in your numismatic mintage filing from 2008.
The issue figures seem to be correct but the description of the denomination of two sets are partially wrong: http://www.perthmint.com.au//documents/2008_Perth_Mint_Numismatic_Coins080113.pdf
If you look on page 5 `The Australian Koala Gold and Silver Collector Coins` please. Line 6 and 7 are both showing the Three and Four Coin Mixed Coins sets. And both are containing the 1 oz Silver and/or 1 oz Silver gilded Koala Coin of 2008. But of both coins the denomination is $1 and not $100 as it would be for the 1 oz Gold Koala Coin only.
If you can send me a picture by E-Mail of that Four Coin Gold Proof and Silver Gilded set for my files I would really appreciate it.

Did Perth Mint ever agreed with some dealers especially from ebay and/or hood.de or their manufacturers that PM have accepted the fakes of Gilded Koala Coins to become official issues? I cannot think so but your comment is highly appreciated.

    Kind regards,
    Norbert

    • Hello Norbert

Your observation concerning the denomination of the 1oz silver Koala is correct and is being amended. Unfortunately we do not possess photography of these sets as they were dealer exclusives.

The Perth Mint could never or would never endorse fakes or lookalikes as official issues – simply out of the question!

      Kind regards

      Blog Team

  17. I am sorry but I realized that the denomintation of the 4Coin Gold Proof and Silver Gilded set 2008 is correct now.

  18. Hi,

Exept for the still missing 0.5 Gramm Gold Koala in the 2013 numismatic filing
it seems okay. The 2014 numismatic filing is accessable and the Mini Gold Kooka is BU now.. But maybe you are using invisible ink for the missing Mini Gold Koala entry 😉

    Kind regards
    Norbert

  19. My apologies…now I have found it under collector coin.
    Thanks. 🙂
