Aug 032015

This month we’re delighted to be able to unveil a fantastic addition to our official Star Trek coin program dedicated to Spock, the unflappable Vulcan-human beloved by generations of Star Trek fans.

August also marks the release of 75th anniversary coins celebrating influential martial artist Bruce Lee. Raised in Hong Kong, Lee was credited with unprecedented influence on Hollywood’s treatment of martial arts films on his way to becoming a pop culture icon of the 20th century.

See inside this month’s digital bulletin for information about more new coins, including the latest Treasures of the World releases featuring turquoise, and a stunning Mother of Pearl Shell coin.

  1. Hi Blog Team,

I want to express my disappointment about the end of another Koala Silver Coin: The 1/10oz Silver Koala in Presentation card. Which one will come next?

But it has a fresh design on the card as on the shipper box for the 1oz High Relief Koala 2015.
The 2015 gilded coin had a new grey box with a relief of Perth Mint Swan in black. Will this box be the new standard?
Here I cannot see that it is that new design.

If you want to view details of 5oz Koala Gold coin reverse you will find that the magnifying glass is missing.
And the is still the old preview of August on forthcoming releases.

    Kind regards
    Norbert

    • Hi Norbert

We are rationalizing the Koala collectable silver coin range and unfortunately this includes the Gilded release which also ends this year. We hope that you enjoy the remaining choice of Koalas, including the 2016 silver bullion coins which we will be unveiling later this month for sale in January.

      Kind regards

  2. Hi Blog Team,

As I recently reviewed your 2013 numismatic coin filing I found a little typo.
The 3 conins of the Australian Outback Set are lited twice there. Once withht e correct denomination of 50 cent each coin on page 2 under section”The Australian Koala, Kookaburra & Kangaroo Sets”
and again on page 5 under section “Collector Coins – Continued” with a wrong denomination of 1$ each coin:

  3. Hi Blog Team,

Today I have received my 1oz Silver Koala in High Relief. As already issued with the 1oz Silver Gilded Koala 2015 you have replaced the classic Perth Mint display case by a new designed one. The swan on the case is much bigger now and the surface of the case has a kind of strucktured surface which makes it looking more valuable. Congratulations! Will that be the new standard for the cases for a certain time? I also noted that the print on the CoA and the illustrated shipper has be changed as I suggested last year already. It is the same on all issues in 2015. Hopyfully you are going to change it again as it was done in the past with the Koala blister card print.
Another topic I want to ask you:
On the my CoA the coin number ist quite high (three thousand and something) althougt I have received it only two month after the first issue of the coin. Is it possible that the first strikes of this coin have been made for the slabbed coins? In 2014 you have had 2,000 slabbed coins. I am guessing that you made 3,000 in 2015 because of my already high number of my coin?

    Kind regards
    Norbert

    • Hi Norbert

Thank you for your comments. We are delighted to hear that you approve of the new display case which is being used across the range and into the future.

Thank you also for your suggestion about a different koala image on shippers and certs going forward – this preference has been relayed to the product development manager.

Regarding the question about your CoA number – yes, a fairly large number of these coins were shipped to the US for slabbing.

      Hope this helps

      Kind regards

  4. Hi Blog Team,

As the 2015 season ist almost at its end there is one Koala related issue for 2015 missing: The 1oz Silver High Relief 3 Coin Set.
Do you know already when it will be issued?

Did you make up your minds about the special issues for the WMF 2016 in Berlin as well as for the tenth annisversary of the Koala Silver coin already?

    Kind regards
    Norbert

      • Hi Blog Team,

I read the tresurer note from today .
Great announcement :-)) for the special – thanks!
Will it come in a special presentation packaging?

Is it possible to know already who is responsible (ordering) for the 1oz Koala with kankaroo privy? The is an erroer in the treasurer not. The headline says it is a 2017 coin release but in the description it is saying 2016.

        Kind regards
        Norbert

        • Dear Norbert

Thank you for your feedback. The item can be found in the Currency (Perth Mint) Determination 2016 (No 1) on page 13 item 27. The item states correctly that it is a 2017 Coin. This is the legally binding part of the document.

          Kind regards

          • Hi.

You are correct concerning the description under text. But under Explanatory Statement you find it with the wrong year: 2017 Australian Koala – Privy Mark Issue: Kangaroo – Silver Collector Coin

The design on the 2017 Australian Koala (1oz) silver collector coin, consists of a circle which encloses a representation of a koala sitting and a landscape featuring grass, rolling plains, trees, leaves and a hilly terrain in the background and a circle enclosing a representation of a kangaroo. The coin includes the following inscriptions ‘AUSTRALIAN KOALA’, ‘2016 1oz 999 SILVER’ and the initials of the designer Thomas Vaughan ‘TV’.
            Never mind.
Do you know when the mintage figures for bullion coins will become available?

            Kind regards
            Norbert

          • Hi Norbert

The next set of bullion coin sales and mintage figures are scheduled to be announced in March,

            Kind regards

          • Hi Bloge Team,

March is going to be long with 31 days. Is it possible to roughly narrow down the period when it will be announced (means first second or last third part of March?

Thank you and my apology for being so impatient. 😉
