This month’s new coin bulletin introduces superb coloured versions from the 2016 Year of the Monkey coin program and the stunning Lunar Typeset Collection featuring proof, bullion coloured and gilded Monkey coins each made from 1oz of pure silver.

Continuing with the Chinese theme, Five Blessings is an intricate silver release portraying five bats, culturally symbolic of longevity, wealth, health, virtue and the desire to die a natural death in old age!

Among the latest releases depicting our iconic Australian fauna is a new addition to the Australian Wedge-tailed Eagle suite of coins. Crafted from 99.95% pure platinum, it is exceptionally rare with a maximum mintage of just 500.

Sure to be a winner, the latest Australian Map Shaped Coin portrays the infamous Redback spider, while Endangered and Extinct now features the extraordinary-looking Southern Cassowary.

For those who like to get organised early, this month’s bulletin also features our 2015 Christmas coin. Portraying a traditional image of a festively decked tree, the unique star-shaped release can also be used as a hanging decoration.

**Look out for the official Back to the Future coin program which will launch on 21 OCTOBER. These exceptional releases are perfect for fans celebrating the 30th anniversary of the hugely successful 1985 movie starring Michael J. Fox.

  1. Hi Blog Team,

Several custumers in Germany reported that the issuing of several Lunar silver coins (2oz, 10oz and 1 kilo) has been postponed because of high demand for silver coins and your overloaded production capacity.
Is there a new time table existing when these coins and maybe otheres affected are available for sale?

    Kind regards
    Norbert

    • Hi Norbert

Sorry, but unfortunately we are unable to say when these releases will be available.

      Kind regards

      • Hi,

is it possible to issue new informations about the new release dates of the postponed coins as soos as available by Perth Mint in your Blog?

Are other coins affected too? Like the 10oz Kooka coins?

        Kind regards
        Norbert

          • Hello Norbert

Unfortunately we have no word yet about the remaining Kookaburra bullion coins. An announcement will be made as soon as they are available.

  2. Good day,
Do you have any more info on the back to the future coins? Mintage limits? And when will you release the designs for the 3 coins? I am very anxious to see the designs!

    • Hi Chris

Because of the official embargo date we cannot provide further details until 21 October when the products will appear on the blog and website. It’s very exciting… but not long to go now 🙂

  3. Hi Blog Team,

With the current issue of forthcoming releases of November 2015 it is likely that the missing 3 Coin High Relief Silver Set will be released now in December 2015.
    Right?

    Kind regards
    Norbert

  4. Thank you for opening my eyes. 😉

  5. Hello Blog Team,

Meanwhile my 5oz HR Silver Koala has arrived 🙂
I like these thick coins. Is it possible to give a statement if a larger amount of these koala coins went again to US market as slabbed version as in 2014?

    Kind regards
    Norbert

    • Hi Norbert

We do not actually slab coins. The decision to slab coins is taken by our dealers to suit local market preferences.

      Kind regards

      • Hi Blog Team,

I Know that mostly US customers are interested in slabbed coins. An therefor those sold by Govmint.com are often slabbed.
But why are you mentioning in you latest 2014 numismatic filing coins as slabbed for several Koala silver coins.
I am afraid if I am sending the relevant link my message are going to be blocked by your spam filter again: http://www.perthmint.com.au//documents/2014_Perth_Mint_Numismatic_Coins140715.pdf

Anothe question: Is a new delivery date for the 10oz bullion silver coins of Lunar2 Monkey and Kookaburra known (and the other ones missing yet)?
I have read rumors that they are supposed to be available at end of comming week.

        Kind regards
        Norbert

        • Hi Norbert

Because these coins were packaged differently (by our distributor) they were accompanied by a separate certificate featuring an Issue Limit – hence they were tagged with the word ‘slabbed’.

Going forward, this won’t happen due to a recent change in our Mintage Policy under 4. PACKAGING VARIATIONS which specifies “The Perth Mint may issue approved coins in special packaging, to satisfy specific market demands, or it may compile special sets which include multiple coins. When either of these is decided, such special issues will be subject to an ISSUE LIMIT which will be contained within the MAXIMUM MINTAGE of each coin.

An exception will occur when an ISSUE LIMIT is split between slabbed* and non-slabbed versions of a coin. Even though the packaging may vary, both the slabbed and non-slabbed versions will be included in the same ISSUE LIMIT/MAXIMUM MINTAGE. *encapsulated in permanent plastic holder by a coin grading service.”

Regarding availability of 10oz silver bullion coins, we will be releasing Kookaburras to the market next week.

          Kind regards

          • Hi Blog Team,

Thank you for the detailed answer about slabbed coins.

Sorry if I raise this question again: Will be the missing 10, 5 and 2oz. Lunar II monkey silver bullion coins released on next week?

            Kind regards
            Norbert

          • Hi Norbert

We are releasing 2oz Lunar Monkeys this week to our distributors and on our bullion website. Unfortunately 10oz and 5oz coins are both currently out of stock.

            Kind regards

      • Hi Blog Team,

An observant member from a German coin forum brought my attention to an ebay auction of a German coin shop about a slabbed 1oz Proof Kookaburra in 2015 WMF Edition:
        http://www.ebay.de/itm/2015-Proof-Kookaburra-WMF-World-Money-Fair-Berlin-mit-Zertifikat-Hologramm-/191812873906?hash=item2ca8f02eb2:g:rZoAAOSw~OVW1Gfw
Everything but the case seems to be normal. The case is looking of different shape than the cases usually look like. It is a oblongless shape rather than the more squared ones. Did you issue these cases for your US customers as special packaging without illustrated shipper?

        • Hi Norbert

The Perth Mint did not offer this packaging option – the distributor removed the Kookaburra coins from our box and arranged for them to be slabbed.

          Hope this helps,

          Regards

  6. Hi Blog Team,

has a quantity of 5 and 10oz coins left your stock recently and is now temorarily unavailably.? I am asking because some dealers here indicating these coins as available soon.

    Kind regards
    Norbert

    • Hi Norbert

That is correct. Both coins are currently out of stock and distributor orders are temporarily suspended.

      Kind regards
